Energy Corporation of America Donates $30,000 Grant to DonorsChoose.orgENERGY CORPORATION OF AMERICA DONATES $30,000 GRANT TO DONORSCHOOSE.ORG Charleston, WV (November 21, 2011) -- ECA Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Energy Corporation of America (ECA), a privately held energy exploration and production company, today announced a $30,000 grant to the DonorsChoose.org Double Your Impact program. This is the second year the ECA Foundation has funded the grant, with donations to the organization totaling more than $52,000 to date. The funds will match any donor’s gift to an eligible project dollar for dollar. DonorsChoose.org is an online charity that makes it easier to help students in high-need public schools. Public school teachers submit classroom project requests for materials or experiences that range from books for schools without libraries to educational field trips, projects considered impossible without some private funding. Since 2000, over 170,000 teachers and 500,000 “citizen philanthropists” have connected at DonorsChoose.org to support four million students nationwide. “We’re thrilled to partner with the ECA Foundation this year to support teachers and students in various Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Texas counties. In 2009 and 2010, ECA helped to support over 9,000 students. We look forward to seeing the amazing results of the 2011 grant as we continue to move the needle to bridge the achievement gap in public education” says Partnership Director Alisa Catellier. The ECA Foundation is committed to donating in areas where their employees live and work. ECA Foundation’s $30,000 investment will be leveraged to ultimately deliver approximately $60,000 to select Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and Texas classrooms. In addition, ECA commits two percent of its cash flow annually to the ECA Foundation, which since 1996 has distributed more than $13 million to worthy individuals and communities across the United States.
